Welcome to the
Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
We have developed this site for 10 years, until 2020. Due to a change in our principled position, we created a new website corjesu.ru, on which all relevant information is published. The website summorum-pontificum.ru remains as an archive of our activities during the first 10 years of the existence of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. For any questions connected with both sites please contact Mr. Gregor H. Huber (gregor.h.huber@gmail.com).
Since the destruction of Catholic communities by the Communists in the 30s, the Traditional Mass in the Roman Rite has lost all its followers in Russia.
But now, 80 years later the situation has changed.
In 2010, certain Russian Catholics united and formed a lay organization known as the “Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus”. The Society was founded in the city of Moscow. Two years later, various Catholics of Kursk founded the first affiliate chapter of the Society.
The Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus aims to uphold and safeguard the traditional Catholic Teaching, according to which the Holy Mass is a bloodless, mystical re-presentation of the Sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Golgotha. This important truth of the Catholic Church has continued for hundreds of years through the practice of the Traditional Rite.

Further aims of the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Read moreThe Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – Catholic lay association in support of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum (from there onward, the Society), from the very day of its foundation, Feast of All Saints, the 1st of November, 2010, has been organizing Holy Traditional Latin Masses according to the 1962 edition of the Roman Missal, which were offered in the basement chapel of the Moscow Immaculate Conception Cathedral. On Sundays and Holy Days the actual attendance would amount to around 50 persons. Another endeavors of the Society were missionary trips across Russian cities in order to bring the Mass of Ages to the people of Russia and educate them on the matters pertaining to it and the Catholic Tradition, as well as organization of recollections and spiritual exercises in the Moscow Cathedral.
Across the span of the last 10 years the Society would faithfully follow the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church as well as directions of Benedict XVI’s Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum.
We thank God for those years.
The last Mass organized by the Society and offered according to the 1962 Roman Missal in the Moscow Cathedral took place on the 1st of November, 2020.

Bad example is contagious: another ban on the Tridentine Mass
The Administrator of the Cathedral of the NZPDM on spiritual matters, Fr. Vladimir Kabak SDB, continues the practice of the former rector, Fr. Joseph Zanevsky SDB, and forbids the celebration of the Tridentine Mass on January 29, 2017. He justifies his decision by the fact that on January 29, 2017, the parish celebrates the feast of St. John Bosco, founder of Don Bosco's Salesian Congregation, and 25 years of Salesian ministry in Moscow. Therefore all parishioners should participate in Summa on Sunday morning. Like the previous ban on December 8, 2015, this ‘Feast Day’ action violates the rights of Traditional Catholics and the norms of the Motu Proprio Summorum Pontificum.

Traditional Baptism
Read moreDear brothers and sisters!
Today, the Catholic Church once again opened the baptistery, once again opened the gates of holy baptism for the salvation of souls. Through the cleansing bath, the infants Gregory-Clement-Isaac Rosenblum and Manuela-Bachita Walter were delivered from original sin and accepted into the Catholic Church. Our community, committed to the traditional form of liturgy, is glad that both children are now brought to Christ. Their parents wished that their children were baptized according to the traditional rite, and this request our chaplain, Fr. Augustine Zenzel SDB, happily fulfilled.
